155 results about "Bungee cord" patented technology

A bungee cord (sometimes spelled bungie), also known as a shock cord - and in Australia, an occy strap or octopus strap - is an elastic cord composed of one or more elastic strands forming a core, usually covered in a woven cotton or polypropylene sheath. The sheath does not materially extend elastically, but it is braided with its strands spiralling around the core so that a longitudinal pull causes it to squeeze the core, transmitting the core's elastic compression to the longitudinal extension of the sheath and cord. Specialized bungees, such as some used in bungee jumping, may be made entirely of elastic strands.

A conventional carabiner (11) is molded directly into a plastic base (10), with the pivoted end of a closure gate (23) being toward the base. The base may also restrain a bungee cord (9) by having the end thereof and a wire crimp (15) molded into the base, or the base may have a bungee cord passageway (40) with cleat (41), into which the bungee cord may be pulled so as to lock the base in a desired position along the bungee cord.

Universal hanger cargo carrier for a boat trailer

A universal, adaptable hanger mounted cargo carrier for removable mounting over and around a trailer frame without requiring modification of either I-beam or box beam trailer rails. The carrier comprises a generally rectangular box with steel mesh floor and opposed inverted corner J-hook mounts for slidable mounting of the carrier over the trailer frame rail extending deep enough below the bottom of the rail to enable a locking mechanism to at least partially close the opening of the inverted J-hook below the frame. Inverted “U” shaped spacers reduce the size of the J-hook opening, thereby adapting the carrier for flush mounting on a range of different sized rails. A steel mesh floor and holes in the walls of the carrier for insertion of hook ends of bungee cords allow for retention and transport of objects of varying size and shape.

Portable collapsible seat

A portable collapsible stool has at least three legs including separable upper and lower parts releasably connected by telescopic joint connections biased into connected engagement by bungee cords. A flexible seat mounted on the upper ends of the legs is disposed in a horizontal seating position when the stool is in setup position. A panel assembly connected to the legs in upwardly spaced relation to the lower ends thereof extends therebetween, provides lateral reinforcement for the legs to increase the carrying capacity of the stool, serves as a ground-engaging member to increase the area of stool ground support when it is setup on soft or sandy ground penetrated by the legs, provides a handle to facilitate rapid simultaneous separation of the leg lower parts from the leg upper part, and may also include a pocket for small articles.

Retractable elastic bungee hose

A retractable elastic pressure hose 30, comprising an inlet connector 22, an outlet connector 28, an inner elastic tube 34, and an outer cover 36. Outer cover 36 is designed to expand and contract radially and longitudinally in response to internal pressure and external tensions on the hose. Internal pressure within the hose tends to extend the elastic pressure hose against the retracting force of the inner elastic tube. Outer cover 36 can have a hollow circular braid structure similar to the cover on a bungee cord and is designed to stretch beyond its fully extended length by applying external tension on the elastic pressure hose.

An inflatable mat for use as a training aid and supporting and rebound surface, such as for a gymnastics mat, and fall breaking landing pad, such as for a high jump and pole vaulting landing pit, includes a closed inflatable body having opposite sides and a plurality of bungee cords secured to and extending between the opposite sides whereby, when the body is inflated, a force applied to the mat, such as by an athlete jumping on the mat or falling onto the mat, will cause stretching of at least one of the bungee cords to aid in absorbing the force applied to the mat. With a closed or sealed inflatable body, the mat can be adjusted by adjusting the amount of inflation to provide shock absorption and rebound when jumping on the mat similar to a trampoline surface or to provide more deceleration and absorption of a fall onto the mat and less rebound as needed for landing pit applications.

Looped Bungee Strap Tie-Down with Locking Slide

A looped bungee cord fastener strap exerts extreme force to temporarily hold and restrain a variety of differently sized and shaped objects. An elongated cord has terminal ends restrained and shrouded within a spherical anchor that are integral with a spaced apart loop in the cord. The cord a two-piece spherical slide sized like the anchor formed from a pair of complementary halves. The cord extends through parallel passageways in the spherical slide, and when the cord is stretched, the slide can be displaced relative to the cord. Each slide passageway has a plurality of spaced-apart, internal nubs that frictionally contact the cord when it is unstretched to lock the slide and cord relative to each other. Surface segments adjacent the passageways in each slide half, and wall surfaces between passageways in each half, contact one another in assembly for strength.

An outerwear garment having sleeves, where at least one sleeve has a closeable pocket of a size to contain a hand covering. A retractable tether, such as a shock cord or bungee cord, is attached at one end to the hand covering and the other end to the closeable pocket. The retractable tether may be detachably attached to the hand covering, closeable pocket, or both, via a fastener such as snaps. The pocket may be closed via a zipper, snaps, or hook at loop fasteners.

Steerable leveraged suspension system suitable for use on a bicycle

A steerable leveraged suspension suitable for a bicycle or electric Bicycle of motorized wheel hub design. Comprising of a vertical fork, which attaches to a bicycle frame front neck tube. The lower portion of said vertical fork is curved at its bottom to the rear of the frame neck head tube centerline, so as to improve steering trail geometry. The bottom of the curved fork is a pivot point to which pivot arms are attached. To the pivot arms the front wheel is attached forward of the pivot points by means of slots to which the front wheel Axel shaft fits into. Also two leveraging pivot arm extensions are attached. The leveraging arms provide a means of suspension leverage and a mounting point for brakes. For the purpose of suspension are rubber cord (bungee cord) and a compression damping spring of gas charge type.
