51 results about "Accent lighting" patented technology

Accent lighting focuses light on a particular area or object. It is often used to highlight art or other artifacts. Common types of accent lights include wall sconces, floodlights, recessed lights, torchère lamps, or track lighting. The brighter light from the accent lamp creates visual interest to a room. Accent lights may also be used to shine light on a stairway, or as in movie theaters, light a walkway.

Modular LED lighting systems and flexible or rigid strip lighting devices

The present invention relates to lighting strips and more particularly to modular lighting systems comprising lighting devices, for example, lighting strips, physically and electrically connectable with one another by way of a plug and socket integrally formed at opposing ends of the lighting strips. The lighting strip devices can be made of flexible material to allow for applying the lighting devices along flat as well as contoured surfaces. The lighting strips can also be rigid. More particularly, embodiments of the invention include modular lighting strips comprising: a non-conductive substrate strip comprising an electrical circuit; a plurality of light sources operably connected to the electrical circuit; a plug integrally formed at an end of the substrate strip; and a socket integrally formed at an opposing end of the substrate strip; wherein the plug and socket provide for removable, friction-fit, latch or latchless, and electrical interconnection of two or more circuits. Also included in the invention are connector assemblies comprising the inventive socket and plugs integral to PCBs for use in the field of electronics. One or more lighting strip can be combined to form lighting systems, which are useful in many functional and decorative lighting applications. The lighting systems are useful for any residential or commercial application where modular, discrete, low-profile, and/or flexible lighting is desired. The lighting strips of the invention can be used in particular for back lighting, accent lighting, aisle or path lighting, contour lighting, elegant interior decoration, holiday decorations, or landscape lighting.

Accent lighting of automotive roof rails

A roof rail assembly (10) including at least one stanchion portion (12) having a cover (14) and at least one lighting device (16). A light permeable film (22) provides a predetermined surface appearance and / or design and is translucent to allow light from the lighting device (16) to pass through under predetermined conditions. When the lighting device (16) is not illuminating, the light permeable film (22) provides a predetermined surface appearance. The film (22) is operatively translucent when the lighting source (16) is illuminated and additionally provides a predetermined design appearance when backlit. The selective lighting on the stanchions of the roof rails (18) provides illumination and a higher location of the indicator of unlock for easier location of a vehicle at greater distances.

The invention relates to a COB type LED light gathering TIR lens system and a designing method thereof. The COB type LED light gathering TIR lens system and the designing method thereof are used in a multi-COB type LED light source to achieve the light gathering type light emitting effect. An optical system is mainly composed of a COB type LED light source and a free-form surface TIR lens, and is used for carrying out angle dividing control over the light emitted by the COB type LED light source. The optical system is designed based on the point light source approximation theory, the free-form surface discrete point of the TIR lens is calculated according to the iteration method, the user-defined collimation function suitable for the area source is compiled according to the macro language in the TracePro, the accent lighting of high evenness and chromaticity of the light area can be achieved by automatically adjusting original discrete point coordinates, the light gathering type light emitting effect is achieved, and the defects caused when an TIR lens designed in an original point light source system is directly applied to a COB type LED are overcome. Meanwhile, the Fresnel variant structure is applied to the outer surface of the top of an optimized lens, the thickness of the lens is reduced, cost is saved, and the lighting effect is improved.
