Shared vehicle system and method with system for carrying a first vehicle with a second vehicle

A shared vehicle system includes a central facility, at least one vehicle distribution port facility and a plurality or fleet of vehicles, each having a vehicle subsystem. In general, the central station and port facility and the vehicle subsystems communicate in a manner to allow a user to enter information at a port facility. That information is then communicated to the central facility, where the information is processed to select a vehicle from the fleet to allocate to the user at the port facility. Selection of a vehicle for allocation to a user may be based on selecting an available or soon to be available vehicle according to various algorithms that take into account the vehicles state of charge. The central station also communicates with the port facility and the vehicle subsystem to notify the user of the selected vehicle, to provide secure user access to the selected vehicle, to monitor the location and operating status of vehicles in the fleet, to monitor the state of charge of electric vehicles and to provide other functions. The vehicles communicate with the central station to notify the central station of the PIN number of the individual attempting to use the vehicle, and of vehicle parameters such as state of charge and location of the vehicle.

Mobile platform for materials transport

A mobile platform for materials transport is provided. The platform includes a pair of suspension devices that in turn include a pair of rocker beams which can be rotated between two positions: a first position where central wheels attached thereto can be used to drive the platform; and a second position where the central wheels are retracted and the platform can be rolled on end wheels without the friction of the central wheels, and an associated drive system, impeding movement of the platform. Furthermore, data from sensors and / or load cells can be used to control movement of the platform; specifically, shifts in load distribution and / or sensed forces at the suspension devices can indicate that a load (and / or materials) has shifted and / or is shifting and movement of the platform is adjusted accordingly, for example to prevent the platform and / or the load (and / or materials) from tipping.

Mobile storage cart

A portable cart is described which has an extendable base to elevate the cart to a proper height to mount in the receiver or a trailer hitch. The extendable base is retracted, pulling up the cart wheels. This allows the cart to be carried by a vehicle. Once at the desired location, the vehicle is parked. The extendable base is extended to support the weight of the cart, which is removed from the vehicle. The cart may then be lowered and wheeled to its use site. The cart may be designed to hold baseball equipment, act as a sports training cart with first aid supplies, or material spill cleanup equipment. It may also carry food and supplies for catering, contain an outdoor mobile grill, act as a service company cart, a construction cart, an equipment cart for first responders, a pet show cart, a trade show cart or employ armored to carry ammunition and military supplies.

System for storage and retrieval of warehousable objects

A track system for storage and retrieval of materials for use with warehousing vehicle that rides upon tracks in horizontal configuration for storage locations, and that is capable of switching to and riding a sloped track to ascend or descend vertically. A set of transition exchanges allows the vehicle to access multiple levels of storage “flooring” or shelving. The exchanges use ramps, or movable sections of railway, that may be moved out of the way of a set of wheels of the vehicle, while other ramps are set in place to provide support to some wheels of the vehicle, whereby the vehicle may selectively either travel along the elevator track, or to move between elevator track and level storage locations.

Collapsible truck rack and method of use

A collapsible truck rack that can be assembled and disassembled easily without the use of tools. The rack can be stored in the interior periphery of the truck bed so as not to appreciable diminish the capacity of the truck bed for the placement therein of items to be transported. The rack does not increase the profile of the vehicle when in the collapsed position and therefore reduces drag during transport. An X-load is added to reduce shift of the load during turns. An optional brace can be bolted to the top surface of the periphery of the truck bad. An optional canvas cover can be used to cover the collapsed rack to secure and protect the rack when not in use.

Truck carrier

A load carrier has a pair of rails each being affixed to one of the two side walls of the open bed of a pickup truck. Each rail has a longitudinally extending slot along which a bar slides. A bracket is connected to each bar. The two ends of a stringer are connected to the two brackets so that stringer extends transversely across the open bed for supporting a load. Instead of bars, clamps are used to connect the brackets to the rails.

Private pallet-box cargo shipping system

A cargo transportation system comprising secure (fully closeable and lockable), sealable, stackable, trackable, universal, auto-latching "pallet boxes" that may be used in two main ways: 1) secured to the undercarriage transverse I-beams of over-the-road semi-trailers by means of loading alignment and hanger assemblies that provide positive locking-in-place; and 2) stackable, up to three or more high, inside the trailer bodies. The inventive pallet boxes are designed to be secured by auto-latching hanger assemblies that are retrofittable on individual types of semi-trailer undercarriages, both US and metric (European, Central and South American, and Asian) standard dimensions. The pallet boxes include vertical sidewall load-bearing channel members permitting stacking fully-loaded pallet boxes three or more high. The pallet boxes may be refrigerated, insulated, or atmospherically controlled, e.g., chargeable with preservative, security or disinfecting gases, during shipping.

Bicycle carrier

A bicycle carrier provides a rotatable beam on which are mounted foldable support arms having first wheel support means for engaging and entrapping the upper peripheral regions of the wheels of a bicycle, the beam being rotatable into a bicycle carriage mode vertically above the vehicle when the arms are in an arm deployed position and lockable in that position. Resiliently-biased detent means are associated with the support arms mountings for positively locking the arms in the deployed position in relation to the beam, simple movement against the bias effecting disengagement.
