Cart for large slabs

The Invention is a cart for moving slabs of stone, such as marble and granite. In a first embodiment, main wheel support the weight of the slabs while front and rear end wheel prevent tipping of the cart. A hydraulic system withdraws the wheels, rendering the cart stationary. In a second embodiment, a main wheel carriage is clamped directly to a slab and bears its weight while smaller front and rear end wheel carriages clamped to the slab prevent tipping of the slab. The wheel arrangement of both embodiments allows the heavy slabs of stone to be readily maneuvered and rotated.

Concrete panel trailer assembly with strut-mounted wheels

A trailer assembly for transporting one or more vertically-oriented panels includes a frame having front and rear sections, a first set of lower crossbeams extending laterally across the front section of the frame, and a second set of lower crossbeams extending laterally across the rear section of the frame. The crossbeams provide vertical support for the panel(s). A hitch extending from the front section of the frame is attachable to a towing vehicle. A set of front vertical members extend upwardly from either the hitch or the frame. A set of front crossbeams extend laterally between the front vertical members and a set of rear crossbeams extend laterally between the rear vertical members. The front and rear crossbeams impede longitudinal movement of the panel(s). A set of wheels axially mounted on struts extend laterally from oppositely facing sides of the rear section of the frame. In one embodiment, one of the front and rear sections is capable of telescoping within the other section to vary the frame length.

Method and apparatus for transporting planar sheets of material

A rack for transporting planar sheets of material includes permanent members made of a hollow tube that is perpendicularly affixed to the bed bottom at a point adjacent to one of the bed side walls. The permanent members are also affixed to the horizontal flange by a clamp. Also provided are vertical, removable members each having two vertical posts held in a parallel relationship to each other by one or more spacers affixed near a top portion. The two vertical posts are spaced far enough apart as to straddle one of the bed side walls. The two vertical posts include a shorter inboard post and a longer outboard post. The shorter inboard post fits snuggly within one of the permanent members and the longer outboard post has a foot extending outwardly and away from the vehicle at a bottom end distal from the spacers.

Container of type having wing doors, used to transport plate-like goods, and trailer for carrying the container

A container of type having wing doors is used carried on a vehicle. The container has the wing doors adapted to swing open and closed and constructed as integral parts functioning as side faces and the roof of the container, a base mounted inside the container and on which plate-like goods are fixed, and a base supporting device for supporting the base such that the base can be set to either a tilted state or a horizontal state. The floor surface of the container has, in a lateral cross-section of the floor surface, a shape of a hat in which the center portion of the shape is high in height along the entire length in the front-rear direction of the floor surface with side portions on opposite sides of the center portion formed to be low in height. The base supporting device is mounted on the center portion of the floor surface. The lower part of the base enters either of the side portions of the floor surface when the base supporting device supports the base in a tilted state.

Two-stage clamp for glass transport

A two-stage clamp for holding glass in place during transport is disclosed. Glass is clamped in place by manually pushing a rubber clamping member against the glass with the desired second-stage clamping force, and then clamping the rubber member in place by rotating a handle which is attached to a cam which provides the second-stage clamping force. A threaded shaft facilitates one-time adjustment of the mechanism such that subsequently the second-stage clamping force of the cam will be consistent in the clamped state and will not require adjustment the next time the clamp is used. The clamp may easily be operated by a gloved hand.
