Ergonomically efficient tool

An improved ergonomically efficient tool having two adjustable and lockable bends allowing the handle to be bent to selected angles at each bend. An alternate embodiment includes a telescoping feature between the two bends allowing the handle length to be adjusted to the height of a user. The two bends and the telescoping feature cooperate to minimize a user's need to stoop over to use the tool and make it easier and more ergonomically efficient to use. A coupling feature in a further embodiment allows multiple tool heads to be easily attached to the bendable handle.

Manually-operable combination shovel and plow for snow and other material

A manually-operable shovel for efficiently moving material, including a shovel blade, a shovel handle, a joint for attaching the shovel blade to the shovel handle, and an articulation device cooperating with the joint for permitting the operator to position the blade to a predetermined fixed angle in relation to the direction of blade movement for moving the material in a predetermined desired relation to the direction of blade movement. The articulation device is moveable between an unlocked position wherein the angle of the blade in relation to the direction of blade movement is variable and a locked position wherein the angle of the blade is locked into a fixed angle in relation to the direction of blade movement. The articulation device automatically assumes the locked position during a forward, material engaging movement of the shovel and automatically assumes the unlocked position during a rearward material disengaging, movement of the shovel.

Combined shovel and clearing tool arrangement

InactiveUS7347468B1Improved sweeping pathIncrease reachSpadesCarpet cleanersLeading edgeBristle
A combined shovel and clearing tool with a shovel and a clearing tool member for being coupled to the shovel. The clearing tool member can be selectively retained in a usage disposition, such as relative to a leading edge of a shovel blade, and in a storage disposition, such as relative to a trailing edge of the shovel blade or relative to a handle of the shovel. The clearing tool member can be retained by, for example, a clip arrangement, an elastic tether, or a rigid arm. Bristles can project from an obverse side of the shovel blade. The handle and the blade can be reconfigurable by, for example, a relative pivoting or a selective coupling of the handle with multiple receiving portions on the blade. A universal clearing tool can be coupled to a standard shovel.

A shovel for manual use, comprising a shovel blade having concave and convex faces and defining a longitudinal center-line and having side edges, an upper edge and a forward cutting edge. The shovel blade defines a handle connector receptable having a shovel handle fixed therein. A root cutting blade is fixed to the shovel blade substantially along the longitudinal center-line and projects from the concave face of the shovel blade. A sharpened root cutting edge is defined on the root cutting blade and is oriented toward the forward cutting edge of the shovel blade. The root cutting edge of the central blade preferably defines an intermediate edge recess and forms a slightly inclined sharp edge section for enhancing root cutting action. A pair of side blades are fixed to side edge portions of the shovel blade and are oriented in diverging relation projecting from the convex face of the shovel blade. The side blades also preferably define forwardly inclined sharpened cutting edges and are located for cutting surface roots at respective sides of the shovel blade to facilitate efficient fracturing of the soil when the shovel blade has penetrated into the soil and is pivoted to pry a soil load loose from the surrounding soil.

Tool including adjustable handle

A tool includes different tool heads, and an angularly adjustable handle. The angular adjustability allows better ergonomic body posture during use, thus reducing stress and injury, and also allows multiple functions for each tool. The handle comfortably receives a user's hand, with the user's thumb or forefinger located at a release button. The release button is spring-biased and includes teeth that inter-engage with teeth on the tool head to latchingly hold a selected angular position. A resilient cover encases the handle and the release button, preventing dirt from entering the button area to prevent jamming. The covering slips onto the handle and includes an annular lip that stretches over an end surface to retain the covering on the handle. The cultivator includes tines that, by adjusting an angle of the handle, extend in a direction parallel the handle but offset therefrom, or that extend at an angle to the handle.

Device for gathering and lifting leaves

A device for gathering and lifting leaves that utilizes a specially designed pair of leaf scoops that are pivotally secured to each other in opposing orientation via their handles. Each of the leaf scoops is provided with a separate pivotal axis that extends through the handle of the leaf scoop. The leaf scoops are offset from each other so that the handles can be operated like the handles of a pair of scissors in order to open and close the heads of the leaf scoops relative to each other, thereby capturing leaves between the scoop heads so the leaves can be transported and so the leaves can be released when the leaves have been transported to the desired location. The device is provided with a central handle that attaches midway between the pivotal axes so that the user can grasp the central handle when lifting the device and the leaves.

Slick snow stick

A snow removing device is disclosed which is particularly intended for the use in the manual removal of the freshly fallen snow from around the house, or business, such as wooden decks and steps, carpeted porches and steps, cement and blacktop sidewalks. Parking lots drive ways and, the automobiles parked there. This device includes, one blade made of two different materials. (1) A hard concaved plastic blade, with the distal tips rolled up slightly. (2) The top 3 inches of the plastic blade are enveloped with cross linked physically blown closed cell polyethylene foam with a density of 2 pounds per cubic foot. This molded foam edge (cap) tapers to a relatively sharp point. An articulating, pivoting handle is uniquely attached with a large clip, (stabilizer bar) a kick pin, and a strong flexible strap, allowing the worker to throw the snow with both edges thereby giving it abilities to shovel, or plow the snow. The snow can be expelled right or left from a delicate or hard surface; it also cleans the snow off of and from between the vehicles, with little or no time delay between functions, and objects worked, without scratching, scraping, marring, tearing or perforating any finish or surface.

Vibrating manure fork

A manure fork comprising a handle and a fork arrangement including a shank terminating in a plurality of spaced-apart tines. The tines are integral with the shank at their inner ends and are free at their outer ends. A vibrator is incorporated into the manure fork a point near the juncture of the handle and shank. The vibrator includes a DC electric motor having an eccentric weight mounted on its shaft. The motor is battery powered by a rechargeable battery source. A switch is provided on the handle in proximity to either of an operator's hands so the motor may be energized when vibration is desired and de-energized to conserve battery power during scooping or dumping. Preferably, the vibrator is an auxiliary module attachable to convert a prior art manure fork into a improved manure fork. Alternatively, the vibrator may be incorporated permanently on or within the handle.

Shovel Attachment

An attachment to a conventional snow shovel functions as an auxiliary handle and as a connector to a second snow shovel. When oriented substantially perpendicular to the shovel blade, the attachment functions as an auxiliary handle. The attachment connects to the shovel near the intersection of 1) the blade and neck and 2) the neck and handle. In this embodiment, the auxiliary handle functions as a cradle in which to rotate the shovel to dump snow more easily. The attachment may also be used to combine two shovels to form a plow. The attachment connects to a first shovel at the same two points as in the first configuration. In the same way, another attachment connects to the neck of a second shovel. The two attachments connect to each other at a third attachment point along the body of the attachments, creating a plow formed by the adjacent shovel blades.
