[0087] Synthesis of Oligomers Containing α-Methylstyrene Groups (AMSPU2400)

[0088] 120.60g TMI (3-isopropenyl-α,α-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate; Cytec Industries, Inc.) and 600.00g JEFFAMINE D2000 (diamine-terminated polypropylene glycol, nominal molecular weight: 2000 ; Huntsman Petrochemical Corp.) were mixed and reacted overnight at room temperature without temperature adjustment. The results of IR spectroscopy show that the isocyanate peak is at a frequency of 2,265cm –1 disappears in time, thus confirming the completion of the reaction. In this way, an oligomer comprising α-methylstyrene groups (AMSPU2400) was obtained.

Abstract

An adhesive exhibits superior adhesive strength on adhesive-resistant materials such as olefin elastomer substrates when cured at a comparatively high temperature of 35 DEG C, and is hot water resistant. A two-pack adhesive comprises (A) a primary agent containing (1) isobornyl methacrylate and (2) at least one type of monocyclic methacrylate selected from a group including phenoxyethyl methacrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl methacrylate, and cyclohexyl methacrylate, and (B) an initiator containing an organoborane, with the adhesive containing from 40 to 200 parts by mass of the monocyclic methacrylate per 100 parts by mass isobornyl methacrylate.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to two-part adhesives and structures comprising the same, and in particular, to reactive two-part adhesives for low surface energy substrates and structures comprising the same pieces. Background technique [0002] Low surface energy plastic substrates such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) require adhesives to be bonded in an efficient and effective manner. These substrates are known to have anti-adhesive properties. [0003] In order to bond these anti-adhesion substrates, surface treatments such as flame treatment, ITRO treatment, corona discharge, plasma treatment, ozone or oxidizing acid induced oxidation and sputter etching etc. are usually performed. Primers containing high surface energy materials may be used to coat the surface of the adhesion resistant substrate, but one of the above surface treatments may need to be performed to deposit a sufficient amount of primer....
