Problems solved by technology

[0007] Although hormone therapy is less invasive and can be used in more advanced stages of cancer, some individuals receiving current hormone therapy treatments do not show a significant response or any response to this treatment
Additionally, some patients treated with current hormone therapy may also experience cancer regression or recurrence
Currently, patients with this difficult-to-treat cancer have few treatment options

Abstract

Methods and compositions for treating cancer are described herein. More particularly, the methods for treating cancer comprise administering a 17±-hydroxylase / C 17,20 -lyase inhibitor, such as abiraterone acetate (i.e., 3²-acetoxy-17-(3-pyridyl) androsta-5, 16-diene), in combination with at least one additional therapeutic agent such as an anti-cancer agent or a steroid. Furthermore, disclosed are compositions comprising a 17±-hydroxylase / C 17,20 -lyase inhibitor, and at least one additional therapeutic agent, such as an anti-cancer agent or a steroid.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of the invention patent application with the application number "200780038583.5" and the invention title "Method and Composition for Treating Cancer". technical field [0002] Methods and compositions for treating cancer are described herein. More specifically, the method for treating cancer includes 17α-hydroxylase / C 17,20 - a lyase inhibitor, such as abiraterone acetate (i.e. 3β-acetoxy-17-(3-pyridyl)androst-5,16-diene), and at least one additional therapeutic agent, such as an anticancer drug or steroid combination. In addition, compositions are disclosed comprising 17α-hydroxylase / C 17,20 - a lyase inhibitor, and at least one additional therapeutic agent, such as an anticancer agent or a steroid, such as a corticosteroid, or more particularly a glucocorticoid. Background technique [0003] The number of people diagnosed with cancer has increased significantly. Of particular concern are individuals diagnosed with and...
