The RFID chip includes a unique serial number that can be interrogated by a wireless reader. A database of such unique serial numbers associated with particular manufacturing production runs is used in a method to detect counterfeiting. A laminate seal having at least two layers is bonded across the opening and is adapted to provide an airtight seal across the opening and prevent contact between said nutritive substance and the contents of said container until said seal is altered. The laminate seal comprises a first layer permanently bonded to a rim defining the opening in the upper portion and a second layer that is releasably coupled to the first layer. A nutritive substance is bonded to the first layer. The container additionally comprises a closure removably coupled to the upper portion.

A container for a food product includes a wrapper which surround a polygonal frame. The wrapper forms a top of the container and has an access opening. A sealing label, adhesively sealed to the top around the opening, is resealable when a tab of the sealing label is pulled back. A tamper indicating, resealable closure for a package includes first and second film layers releasably adhesively joined together such that the first and second film layers are at least partially separable when the second film layer is pulled away from the first film layer. The first film layer includes first and second tear lines formed thereon to define first and second panel sections respectively. The first panel section defines an access opening through the first film layer when it is separated along the first tear line during an initial separation of the first and second film layers. The second panel section also becomes separated from the first film layer when the second film layer is separated from the first film layer to provide an indication of an initial opening of the closure. Subsequently, the second film layer may be re-adhered to the first film layer to reseal the access opening, while the second panel section remains separated from the first film layer.

A single-use, clamshell protective cap for use primarily in healthcare settings in order to maintain the integrity of a medication solution. The cap has two halves, a cylindrical skirt, a puncture resistant lid portion, an interior flange, and an interlocking snap. When placed around a flanged injection port such as is found on a conventional fluid container and closed, the lid portion covers an access site on an injection port. After the cap is placed, the interior flange engages the port flange to prevent upward axial movement relative to the port, thereby preventing removal of the cap and thus deterring unwanted or erroneous drug administrations or withdrawals.

A tamper-indicating dispensing closure includes a closure body, and an associated flip-top lid pivotally connected to the closure body for movement between a closed position and an open position. The flip-top lid includes a tamper-indicating flange frangibly connected thereto, with the closure body including a pocket-like retention cavity within which the tamper-indicating flange is received during initial closing movement of the flip-top lid. During initial opening movement of the lid, the tamper-indicating flange is broken away from the flip-top lid, and thereafter permanently retained within the retention cavity to provide a clear, visual indication that the flip-top lid of the closure has been opened.

The closure comprises a sealing layer, adhesively sealed to the top of the container around the opening. The sealing layer is releasable from the container by pulling back on the sealing layer and resealable against the top layer to seal the opening when the sealing layer is moved back against the top. The tamper-evident feature comprises a portion of the top adjacent the opening and covered by the sealing layer, which extends from a position spaced from, and extends towards and terminates at the opening of the container. A portion of the tamper-evident feature falls into the container after the sealing layer has been pulled back for a first time to thereby indicate that the container has been previously opened.
