Vehicle driving assist system

A vehicle driving assist system is configured to convey a risk potential relating to a preceding obstacle to a driver using both visual information and haptic information. For example, the vehicle driving assist system executes accelerator pedal actuation reaction force control such that an actuation reaction force is generated in accordance with a risk potential that expresses a degree of convergence between the host vehicle and a preceding obstacle. In order to convey to the driver in a clear manner which preceding obstacle(s) is an obstacle targeted by the risk potential calculation and the reaction force control, the system displays a reference frame or marker at a position corresponding to the targeted obstacle (preceding vehicle). At least one of size, color, shape and brightness of the marker is set in accordance with the risk potential.

Safety systems and methods for driver operated motor vehicles. The systems and methods respond to adverse weather to regulate traffic flow of vehicles, and to change the performance of vehicles in more than two different modes of operation. The systems and methods further locate other vehicles ahead and at the sides of said vehicle, and communicate such locations and proximity of the other vehicles, as well as warning the driver of the danger of collision. The information provided by such systems and methods is communicated to the vehicle driver in such manner that the driver's vision and attention are not diverted away from other traffic conditions ahead of the vehicle.

Driving assist system for vehicle

A vehicle driving assist system of the present invention detects a vehicle condition and a traveling environment of a subject vehicle; and calculates risk potential around the subject vehicle. The vehicle driving assist system calculates operation reaction force based on the risk potential around the subject vehicle, and corrects it according to operating state of an accelerator pedal. The corrected operation reaction force is generated in the accelerator pedal.

Stair-climbing apparatus

An apparatus for climbing and descending stairs or other obstacles has three flexibly connected sections and a pair of crawler belt systems on opposite sides of the unit. Each of the crawler belt systems comprised of three crawler belts are driven by one of a pair of motors that directly drives a pinion that engages two of the crawler belts, one of which then drives the last crawler belt through another pinion. The stair-climbing apparatus also includes a mounting platform for coupling a carrier device such as a wheelchair or a box. In order to provide cushioning and stability for movements from a horizontal surface to an inclined surface and vice versa, shock absorbers are provided between the three sections. A linear actuator is also provided to provide stabilization as well as the ability to raise and lower both the stair-climbing crawler unit as well as the wheelchair, providing three modes of operation including manually wheel driven mode, motor wheel driven mode, and motor crawler driven mode.

Vehicle driving assist system

A vehicle driving assist system is provided that calculates a risk potential indicative of a degree of convergence between the host vehicle and the preceding obstacle. A first driving assistance control system controls at least one of an actuation reaction force exerted by a driver-operated driving operation device and a braking / driving force exerted against the host vehicle based on the risk potential calculated. A second driving assistance control system controls the braking / driving force of the host vehicle such that a headway distance is maintained between the host vehicle and the obstacle. A transition detecting section detects a transition of operating states of the first and second driving assistance control systems. The control adjusting section adjusts the control executed by the first and second driving assistance control systems when a transition of operating state is detected.

Utility vehicle with foot-controlled mobility

A utility vehicle with foot-controlled mobility is provided that includes a skeletal frame structure supporting a gasoline engine which utilizes a belt drive system to drive hydraulic motors with one hydraulic motor disposed at each rear wheel. The vehicle includes four wheel and tire assemblies, substantially at each corner with the rear wheels being driven and the front wheels being formed as casters for 360° rotation to provide a zero turning radius vehicle. The user sits upright in a manner wherein the user's legs are supported on pivotal leg support plates to allow the user to sit upright with legs directed down and away from the waist to allow the user to operate a hand-held implement. Both speed control and directional control are provided using pivotally mounted pedals with one pedal controlling each hydraulic motor. Movement of the pedals allows individual motor control to provide drive steering and speed control.

Position-adjustable control console

A control console for a mobile machine includes a lower support device, a first platform and a pair of links pivotally coupled between the support device and the first platform. A second platform is mounted atop the first platform for sliding movement parallel thereto and a compression mechanism coacts with the platforms and secures them in respective positions. More specifically, each platform includes a horizontal support member and a web extending downwardly from such members. The platform webs are closely proximate one another and when the compression mechanism is tightened, the webs and one of the links are compressed together. Web / link compression prevents up-down movement of the platforms in unison and also prevents movement of the second platform with respect to the first platform. A new method for moving the position of a control lever mounted on the console is also disclosed.
