30 results about "Multi touch interface" patented technology

A multi-touch interface is a human-computer interface allowing users to compute without input devices such as a mouse or mechanical keyboard. Instead, the user interacts with the computer by touching and making gestures on a specialized touch-sensitive display surface that can detect multiple points of contact (touches)...

Predictive interfaces with usability constraints

A “Constrained Predictive Interface” uses predictive constraints to improve accuracy in user interfaces such as soft keyboards, pen interfaces, multi-touch interfaces, 3D gesture interfaces, EMG based interfaces, etc. In various embodiments, the Constrained Predictive Interface allows users to take any desired action at any time by taking into account a likelihood of possible user actions in different contexts to determine intended user actions. For example, to enable a virtual keyboard interface, various embodiments of the Constrained Predictive Interface provide key “sweet spots” as predictive constraints that allow the user to select particular keys regardless of any probability associated with the selected or neighboring keys. In further embodiments, the Constrained Predictive Interface provides hit target resizing via various piecewise constant touch models in combination with various predictive constraints. In general, hit target resizing provides dynamic real-time virtual resizing of one or more particular keys based on various probabilistic criteria.

Apparatus and method for providing multi-touch interface capability

An apparatus and method for providing multi-touch human to computing device interface capability on devices having single-touch interface devices. The apparatus and method use heuristics based analysis of successive touch point X,Y coordinate pairs provided by the single-touch interface device to identify a multi-touch occurrence. A further heuristics based function is employed to derive X,Y coordinates for a second touch point from two successive pairs of X,Y coordinates provided by single-touch interface device.

Touch sensitive user interface

A system and a method are disclosed for providing a touch interface for electronic devices. The touch interface can be any surface. As one example, a table top can be used as a touch sensitive interface. In one embodiment, the system determines a touch region of the surface, and correlates that touch region to a display of an electronic device for which input is provided. The system may have a 3D camera that identifies the relative position of a user's hands to the touch region to allow for user input. Note that the user's hands do not occlude the display. The system may render a representation of the user's hand on the display in order for the user to interact with elements on the display screen.

Method for prepresenting musical scales and electronic musical device

The present invention relates to a method for representing musical scales by means of tiles, including pentatonic scales (arbitrary scales with five notes per octave), heptatonic scales (arbitrary scales with seven notes per octave). Major blues and Minor blues scales (specific scales with six notes per octave), and to an electronic musical device with an interface that uses this representation. More specifically, the device uses a multi-touch interface with or without strings which allows the musician to concentrate on the melodic line only, making it easier to improvise and perform music composed in one of said scales. The representation differs from the traditional interfaces on string instruments (such as a guitar) in that only the notes of a given scale (with five, six or seven notes per octave) can be played.

System and method for constrained manipulations of 3d objects by multitouch inputs

Described herein are systems and methods that employ a widgetless and buttonless multi-touch interface for constrained manipulations of 3D objects. The widget-less multi-touch user interface can map different multi-touch gestures to different 3D object manipulation tasks, allowing a user to manipulate 3D objects without operating widgets or performing mode switchings or tool selections. User interaction is greatly simplified by using single touch actions that simultaneously specify the transformation constraint, the transformation type, and the magnitude of transformation and apply the transformation to the focus object. Additionally, the axis-based constrained manipulations support active snapping and axis transfer. Active snapping allows the user to draw a free touch path connecting two 3D objects to be snapped together, avoiding tedious operations required with standard transformation manipulations. Axis transfer provides a simple solution to achieve relative transformations between objects, allowing an object to be transformed along a specific predefined axis of another object.

Wearable electronic apparatus

A wearable electronic apparatus includes a touch panel and a processor. The touch panel is configured for providing a touch interface and detecting a swipe gesture across the touch interface. The touch interface has a first portion and a second portion. The processor is operatively coupled to the touch panel. The processor is adapted to assign a first border layout and a second border layout for discriminating between a vertical swipe and a horizontal swipe. The first border layout is different from the second border layout. The processor is further adapted to recognize whether an initial touchdown point of the swipe gesture is located in the first portion or the second portion of the touch interface.

Hardware waterproof capacitive touch key BUF circuit

A capacitive touch key is a common user interface device. A sensor judges whether a finger touch action exists or not by detecting the capacitance of a human body. Compared with a mechanical key, thecapacitive sensor is attractive in appearance, easy to use and long in service life. However, if a water film or water drops exist on the touch interface, the capacitance of the sensor is changed, andmistaken touch induction may occur. The invention provides a hardware waterproof capacitive touch key BUF circuit. The BUF circuit has the advantages of being simple in structure, low in power consumption and high in speed.
