Problems solved by technology

Restrictions are imposed on the user's allowable movement due to the need to use two fingers at the same time
For example, it is very difficult to draw a circle with a finger and a thumb other than a thumb, or with two fingers other than a thumb

Abstract

A process for experiencing a two-point touch interface using a single-touch function is disclosed. A DOF constraint is presented using a two-finger opponent at the same time. In an embodiment of the present invention, single touch processing is used to simulate a simultaneous two touch interface. In the dedicated input mode, the mechanism used is to fix a reference point first. The second and subsequent single touches are then made relative to this fixed reference point. The time-lag touch enables free use of the index finger for both touches. Closed figures are easily drawn, and zoom-in or zoom-out functions are similarly implemented with reference points and lines drawn away from or towards objects. The limitations of dual touch are overcome while maintaining the full interface capabilities of dual touch.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the invention generally relate to touch-based user input interfaces for computer systems. Background technique [0002] Touch technology is the latest development in human-machine interface technology for computing and communication devices. Due to the paradigm change brought about by Moore's Law in semiconductor technology, improvements in the speed and response time of computer systems allow users to interface with computer systems using their fingers. [0003] The keyboard was an early form of user input interface for computers. It migrated naturally from the typewriter world. The mouse is added to the user interface as another natural and faster means of user input. It is worth noting that the main driver of this progress is the development of silicon technology, which enables the support of graphical user interfaces. Rather than specifying text entry, the rapid movement of the cursor on the screen in response to mouse movements ...
