Spinal plate with internal screw locks

A bone plate for stabilizing adjacent vertebrae or ends of a bone has a span for extending across the discontinuity. The span has brackets for attaching to the bone. The brackets have countersunk apertures terminating through which bone screws are placed in the bone. An eccentric cam bore is located between the countersunk apertures and, upon rotation of an eccentric cam, wedge grip shoes are slid into the countersunk apertures and frictionally engage the spherical heads of the bone screws. To prevent back-out of the bone screws, the eccentric cam is locked into the wedge grip shoes.

Implant for correcting skeletal mechanics

InactiveUS20090222047A1Bone platesCuneusSacroiliac joint
Deformities present on the end of a bone, for example the end of the metatarsal bone making up part of the metatarsocuneiform joint, can lead to deformities such as bunions. These deformities are treatable with an implant that comprises a plate with a wedge extending perpendicular from the plate. Following removal of cartilage from the joint, deformed portions at the end of the bone are removed and the wedge is inserted in the joint and held in place when the plate is attached to the bones flanking the joint. This effectively fuses the two bones together. The wedge can be shaped in various ways depending on the particular deformity present.

Wedged Profile Plate

ActiveUS8728131B2Bone platesLatarjet procedureCuneus
A bone plate used in conjunction with various procedures to correct certain deformities, such as a Latarjet procedure. The bone plate is provided with a plurality of spikes having a truncated, pyramidal shape with a plurality of sides or faces that converge to a tip line. The height of each spike is of about 2.5 to about 3 mm. The design of the spikes allows the plate to stay in the right position by simply pressing the plate with the fingers on the bone or using a specific instrument (before the fixation holes are drilled and the fixation devices such as screws are secured). The bone plate may be provided with side, lateral faces that have a non-uniform width (i.e., a wedged profile) to allow for orthograde placement of the fixation device, even in the case of angled bone surfaces.

Intravascular suturing device for simultaneously placing 3-7 sutures with ideal spacing to close large openings in vessels including calfified

Centerboard entering vessel opening spreads it to a slit. Needle pairs in slots across centerboard width are at about 2 mm intervals inside vessel. Pushing a wedge or bridge wire between pairs spreads needle noses about 1 mm on either side of free edge of slit. Suture loop ends are attached to each pair. An outboard has legs on either side of centerboard with a foot on each leg that stands on either side of slit outside vessel. Needle nose housings in each foot are directly opposite needle noses. Operator turning a screw pushes needle noses through vessel wall overcoming resistance in calcified vessels and housings hold needle noses by detents. Removing device from body brings suture ends outside with suture loops across slit in ideal 2×2 pattern. Alternative configurations provide means of joining and cutting suture ends, with preformed knots slid to opening or clamping ends together with a clip.

Tibial tuberosity advancement cage for ACL injuries

Methods and implants to treat anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are disclosed. The methods involve advancing the insertion of the patellar tendon to the proximal tibia by means of a partial osteotomy and a wedge-shaped cage (30). The wedge-shaped cage is specifically designed to facilitate transfer of not only compressive loads, but also of shear loads due to pull by the patellar tendon at its insertion to the tibial tuberosity. The cage decreases the angle between the patellar tendon and the common tangent plane formed by the condyles of the femur and the condyles of the tibia (sometimes called tibial plateau) and consequently modifies the internal joint force, restoring stability to the joint even if the ACL is ruptured. The methods and implants are applicable to both human and canine patients.

Transceiver module release mechanism

A transceiver module release system is disclosed. The system may be used to release a transceiver module housed in a cage that is permanently mounted on a printed circuit board. The release system may include a bail that rotates a slide-block through a slot to urge the bail forward in a slide-block path on the transceiver module. The bail has a hook shaped structure adapted to be connected with a detachable pull tab. As the bail begins to move forward from the locked position, wedge elements at the end of a pair of slide-block arms extending rearward from the bail may contact locking tabs on the cage, forcing the locking tabs outward.
