The identification method of the mussaenda pubescens comprises the following steps: sucking 2-12mu L of test sample solution and 2-12mu L of mussaenda pubescens reference solution, separately dripping the test sample solution and the reference solution onto the same thin layer chromatography plate, spreading the test sample solution and the reference solution on the thin layer chromatography plate by using a developing solvent, taking out the thin layer chromatography plate, and drying in the air; spraying the thin layerchromatography plate with an ethanol sulfate solution containing 10% developer, heating until the spots on the thin layer chromatography plate are chromogenic and clear, and viewing the thin layer chromatography plate under the sunlight or lamp light; when the spots of the same color in the chromatogram of a test sample is displayed at the position corresponding to the chromatogram of the reference substance of the mussaenda pubescens, determining that the test sample is the mussaenda pubescens.
