Abstract

The method includes steps of: under irradiation of visible light, performing a reaction for 40-48 h with methylbenzene as a raw material without a solvent at room temperature in air, wherein a diphenyl ketone compound is used as a catalyst,thus high-effectively achieving production of the benzoic acid by oxidizing the methylbenzene. The method can achieve photo-oxidization to the methylbenzene to produce the benzoic acid under conditions of room temperature and absence of a solvent, thereby achieving optimization and modification to production processes of oxidizing methylbenzene to produce the benzoic acid in the prior art. In theinvention, a visible-light photo-sensitizer is used as a catalyst, so that the method is reduced in cost. The method can greatly reduce energy consumption and completely solve problems of environmentpollution of emission of wastes and residual heavy metals in the product, which are caused by heavy metals and an acetic acid solvent.
