[0016] The present invention is an aluminum alloy composition that satisfies the aforementioned manufacturing and performance conditions for cylinder block castings. The invention is particularly applicable to cylinder block castings for internal combustion engines having reciprocating pistons using gasoline fuel. This alloy can be cast by any conventional casting method to produce low-porosity, high-strength, wear-resistant engine blocks without special heat treatment and other special processes.
