207 results about "Hair straightening" patented technology

Hair straightening is a hair styling technique used since the 1890s involving the flattening and straightening of hair in order to give it a smooth, streamlined, and sleek appearance. It became very popular during the 1950s among black males and females of all races. It is accomplished using a hair iron or hot comb, chemical relaxers, Japanese hair straightening, Brazilian hair straightening, or roller set/blowdryer styling. In addition, some shampoos, conditioners, and hair gels can help to make hair temporarily straight.

Compositions and Kits for Hair and Skin

Compositions, kits, and methods for repairing bonds, for example, disulfide bonds, in hair or on the skin are disclosed. The compositions provide improved conditioning benefit for dry hair or moisturize the skin. The compositions also provide a long lasting moisturized feel and smooth feel to the skin or hair, without feeling greasy. The compositions contain one or more compounds that covalently crosslink at least two thiol groups in the hair or on the skin. Use of the crosslinking compositions prevents reversion of the repaired bonds to their reduced (thiol) state, for at least one week, one month, six months, or one year, after a single application of the composition. Improved methods of styling hair, for example permanent hair waving, hair curling, and hair straightening are also provided.

Formulations and methods for straightening hair

A formulation is described for straightening hair comprising alkanoic acids and a diluent, wherein the diluent is advantageously present at greater than 5% by volume, and more preferably greater than 20% by volume. The inventive formulation is acidic and does not use an effective amount of an alkaline hair-straightening agent to perform the hair straightening function. Instead, the step of hair straightening is accomplished by applying the non-alkaline formulation to the hair and then either leaving the formulation in the hair without rinsing or rinsing the formulation out of the hair followed by optional shampooing and / or conditioning. Consequently, a safe and surprisingly effective solution is provided for hair-straightening including hair-straightening maintenance, relaxation of curl, and reduction of frizziness (e.g., in humid weather).

Split-barrel locking mechanism for hair appliance

A hair-straightening device has a handle, a barrel, a spoon and a thumb rest. The barrel is comprised of an upper barrel and a lower barrel. The thumb rest includes a spoon lock that enables a user to choose between using the hair device as a hair-straightening appliance or as a curling iron. When the thumb rest is in a pulled back position, the spoon lock is disengaged from the barrel connector and upper barrel. As such, as the thumb rest is depressed, the hinge pivots about its axis, causing the spoon to open with respect to the barrel. The user can then operate the device as a curling iron. When the thumb rest is in the forward position, the spoon lock engages the barrel connector, which is connected to the upper barrel end. As the user depresses the thumb rest, the barrel connector and upper barrel end pivot about the hinge. This causes the entire upper barrel to open, rather than just the spoon. The user can then operate the device as a straightening iron.

Enzymatic peracid generation for use in hair care products

Disclosed herein are compositions and methods to treat hair with a peracid-based benefit agent. The peracid benefit agent can be used for hair bleaching, hair weakening, hair removal, hair waiving, hair straightening or any combination thereof. The peracid may be enzymatically generated from a carboxylic acid ester substrate using an enzyme having perhydrolytic activity (perhydrolase) in the presence of a source of peroxygen. A fusion protein comprising the perhydrolase coupled to a hair-binding domain, either directly or through an optional linker, may be used to target the perhydrolytic activity to the hair surface.

Electric hair straightening iron equipped with a generator producing anion and ozone

An electric iron for straightening ladies hair, capable of producing anion and ozone, has an electron generator embedded on one of the handle of ceramic plate heating electric iron. Electrons generated from the inside of the ion generator meet air at the end of two different cathode lines, which are ended with sharp carbon steel needle, and generate anions and ozone. Pluralities of small holes developed along the heater cases enables even distribution of the anions along the heating blades. The ion generator of the current application is so powerful that the concentration of anions in the air is about 1,000,000 each / cubic centimeters even when measured 15 cm apart from the heating blades. Such long range distribution enables pretreatment of the user's hair with anion and ozone before the heating blades touch them.

Hair straightening appliance with variable steam output control

A hair straightening device 1 comprises pair of handles pivotally joined at a hinge 4. The upper handle 2 comprises an upper plate 5 that is selectively heated. A water reservoir 8 is removably mounted to the upper handle portion 2. As the handle portions 2, 3 are closed toward each other, a valve actuating member 11 on the lower handle portion 3 contacts a rubber bulb 12 located on the upper handle portion 2 compressing the bulb 12 to force air through a tube 13 and through an air input opening 14 on the reservoir 8, forcing open a one-way, flexible valve 15 the allows the air to enter the interior 16 of the reservoir 8. The pressure of the entering air displaces the water stored in the reservoir and causes it to exit the reservoir 8 at an exit port 17 into a channel 18 of the upper handle portion 2 and plate 5. The plate 5 may have one or more openings to release the steam that is produced by the water, as the water receives heat from the plate 5 being heated. An adjustment lever 19 allows mechanical adjustment of the actuating member 11 to various heights ranging from a low height where it will not contact the bulb 12 (FIG. 4B) and, thus, will cause zero steam to emit, to intermediate and highest height (FIG. 4A) where a proportionate amount of air displacement and thus steam emission occurs.
