The invention discloses application of cyclocarya paliurus leaves or extract thereof in preparation of an antibacterial agent. Experiment proves that the cyclocarya paliurus aqueous extract has a killing effect on escherichia coli, staphylococcus aureus, staphylococcus epidermidis, staphylococcus saprophyticus, streptococcus pneumoniae, hemolytic streptococcus A, hemolytic streptococcus B and lactobacillus acidophilus; and especially, has a killing effect on various drug-resistant bacteria such as escherichia coli ATCC25922, escherichia coli CMCC44155, streptococcus pneumoniae ATCC6303, hemolytic streptococcus A and hemolytic streptococcus B. The killing capability is increased along with the increase of concentration, and the bactericidal capability is obviously stronger than that of a reference product Pu'er tea water extract.
