Abstract

The present invention relates to a flux supplied to an upper portion of a molten steel in a tundish, and a casting method using the same. The flux is able to totally be displaced with SiO2-based and Al2O3-based flux conventionally used in accordance with a tundish operation environment, or is able to be used by being partially mixed with a first composition and a second composition, the first composition including 45 to 60 wt% of SiO2 based on a total 100 wt% of the flux and 20 to 40 wt% of MgO, the second composition containing the component controlling reoxidization of the molten steel and the melting point and viscosity of the flux. That is, by providing the flux having SiO2 and MgO as the basic composition, it is possible to increase the thermal insulation of the molten steel, suppress the reoxidation of the molten steel, absorb the inclusion easily, and minimize the melting damage of refractory materials. Accordingly, the treatment of the molten steel in the tundish is easy, and the quality of the manufactured steel product can be increased.
