An electromagnetic field positioning method of an overhead transmission line patrol unmanned aerial vehicle and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. Through measuring a magnetic field vector and an electric field vector of a position where an unmanned aerial vehicle is located, according to a mathematic relation of an electromagnetic field vector and a distance, a space position between the unmanned aerial vehicle and a power transmission line is determined; and through wireless transmission equipment, acquired space position data between the unmanned aerial vehicle and the power transmission line is transmitted to a terminal control system. A three-component method is used to measure the magnetic field vector and a three-axis orthogonal method is used to measure the electric field vector. By using the method and the apparatus of the invention, positioning accuracy of the line patrol unmanned aerial vehicle can be effectively increased; uncertainty brought by observation by naked eyes is avoided; effects of safety and high efficiency are achieved; and simultaneously an intelligent degree of line patrol is increased.
