A single prong, multiple signal conducting plug and plug detection circuitry is provided. The plug may be electrically coupled to a stereo headset including a microphone. The plug may include four signal conducting regions arranged in a predetermined order along the length of the prong. Detection circuitry may be operative to determine whether a microphone type of plug (e.g., a four region plug including a microphone region and two audio regions, or a three region plug including microphone region and only one audio region) or a non-microphone type of plug (e.g., stereo plug) is inserted into the jack of an electronic device (e.g., mobile phone). Detection circuitry may also detect user activated functions performed in response to user activation of one or more switches included with the headset. For example, the headset may include a single switch for performing a function with respect to a microphone (e.g., end-call function).

A magnetic connector for connecting various cables to a mobile electronic device includes a connector part in the mobile electronic device and a connector part attached to the cable. One of the connector parts includes a permanent magnet and the other connector part includes magnetic material or another magnet. The attractive magnetic force between the permanent magnet or the other magnet and the magnetic material keeps the connector parts into engagement. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the adapter comprises a plug unit, a power converter, a primary connector, and an identification subsystem. The plug unit is operative to coupled the adapter to a power socket and operative to receive energy from the power socket. The power converter is electrically coupled to the plug unit and is operable to regulate the received energy from the power socket and to output a power requirement to the mobile device. The primary connector is electrically coupled to the power converter and is operative to couple to the mobile device and to deliver the outputted power requirement to the mobile device. The identification subsystem is electrically coupled to the primary connector and is operative to provide an identification signal.

The present invention is directed towards a portable electronic device that includes a first part and a second part. The first part includes electrical circuits and has an exterior side, an interior side, and a bottom side. The second part includes electrical circuits and has an exterior side, and interior side and a bottom side. At least one hinge connects the bottom sides of the first and second parts to each other and allows rotation of one part in relation to the other. At least one first set of flexible electrical conductors are connected to the first part on the exterior side adjacent the bottom side thereof and connected to the second part on the interior side adjacent the bottom side thereof. The first part may be a camera having a lens on the interior side thereof, and the second part may be a display provided on the interior side thereof.

A card connector is mounted on a PCB and has an insulative housing, a plurality of terminals, a pair of hook assemblies and a tray. The terminals are mounted on the insulative housing. The hook assemblies are mounted on the insulative housing and each hook assembly has a hook and a sheath. The sheath covers the hook. The tray is mounted slidably on the insulative housing and has two slides and two positioning notches defined respectively in the slides and selectively engaged respectively with sheathes on the hooks. The sheathes prevent the hooks from wearing the tray and prevent the slides from deviating.
