Highly efficient breastpump and system for expressing breastmilk

The present invention provides a breastshield for use in a breastpumping system for expressing milk, the breastshield being of such a construction that substantially limits the amount of air between the breast / nipple and the breastshield surrounding the breast / nipple, and most preferably virtually eliminates any air at least in the area of the breast and nipple. In some embodiments, any air in the breastpumping system is substantially eliminated. With the amount of air limited, the mechanism used for generating the pressure difference in the breastshield (e.g., vacuum or negative pressure), such as a diaphragm pump, does not need to do as much work. Less energy is required for the expression of milk, and thus the size of pump used can be decreased, thereby reducing the overall cost of the device.

Hands-free breast pump system

A hands-free breast pump system is disclosed. A breast shield having an adhesive inner surface for adhering to a woman's breast is disclosed. The breast shield may be connected to an adapter for transferring a vacuum generated by a pump to the breast. The adapter also allows milk expressed from the breast to drain from the adapter to a container. In the alternative, the breast shield may form part of a breast shield adapter system which is connected to a conventional breast shield by a drain line so that a conventional breast pump system is used to supply a vacuum and to collect the milk.

Nipple configuration for use in feeding and nursing newborn infants

A nipple configuration for use on baby bottles and in breast shields particularly adapted for feeding and nursing newborns. The configuration includes body and nipple portions integrally formed of a soft flexible material and defining raised ridges or other surface irregularities thereon so as to provide the feel of a mother's breast and nipple. The nipple projects outwardly from the body portion and defines a fluid passageway extending axially therethrough and a plurality of discharge openings in the extended end thereof. A flexible reinforcing tube extends through the passageway communicating the fluid openings with the interior of the body portion and preventing the nipple from collapsing upon being sucked by a newborn. The device can also be used on a pacifier for developing the sucking reflex and, in a modified form, for feeding and nursing newborns having a cleft-lip or palate.

Optical pickup

An optical pickup including an optical member which inhibits interference light reflected from an adjacent layer from being received by a photodetector when an optical information storage medium includes a plurality of recording layers on at least one side thereof. The optical pickup suppresses a photodetector, especially first and second sub-photodetectors of the photodetector, from receiving the interference light reflected from the adjacent layer.

Mobile breast feeding assembly

A mobile breast-feeding assembly is shown for feeding a child while traveling in a motor vehicle, as where the child being fed is seated in a child safety restraint seat. The apparatus has a conically shaped breast shield, a length of flexible tubing, and a nipple adapter that threadingly engages an exchangeable nipple element. Engagement regions on the nipple adapter allow a variety of exchangeable nipple elements to be utilized with the basic assembly. The assembly can be formed of disposable materials.

Hands-free breast pump system

A hands-free breast pump system is disclosed. A breast shield having an adhesive inner surface for adhering to a woman's breast is disclosed. An adapter is connected to the breast shield for transferring a vacuum generated by a pump to the breast. The adapter also allows milk expressed from the breast to drain from the adapter to a container. The breast shield adheres to the breast and supports the weight of the adapter and collector bottle without separate adhesives, gels, straps, or specially designed support bras. The adhesive breast shield allows for hand-free expression of milk.

Insert for a breast pump

The present invention relates to an insert adapted to fit on a breast-receiving funnel of a breast pump. The insert comprises a circumferentially extending resiliently deformable wall which defines a teat receiving space and against which a user's teat is locatable, the insert being configured to define a pressure chamber between the resiliently deformable wall and a breast receiving funnel when the insert is fitted on a breast receiving funnel, wherein said wall is configured to deform towards a user's teat located in the teat receiving space in a predetermined manner when a pressure difference is applied between the teat receiving space and the pressure chamber such that a peristaltic action is applied to a user's teat, to aid the expression of milk therefrom.

Prosthetic device

A method of covering a nipple on a human breast, the nipple cover having a center and including a flexible material for conforming to a human breast, the method including the method steps of placing the nipple cover directly on a human breast so as to cover at least about one half and less then all of the breast, with the center of the cover proximate the nipple; the nipple cover having a first thickness proximate the center and a second thickness proximate a periphery thereof, the thickness of the nipple cover gradually tapering from the first thickness to the second thickness, wherein the method further includes the step of being the nipple cover on the breast such that the periphery of the cover blends smoothly with a curved portion of the breast while concealing a nipple shape.

Apparatus and methods for nipple and breast formation

Apparatus and methods for nipple and breast formation are described where devices precondition or expand a target nipple tissue to reduce the pressure exerted by the skin on an eventual implant. Generally, the apparatus comprises a mold having a contact surface which is curved in conformance with a breast upon which the mold is positionable, the contact surface having an adhesive for securement upon the breast, and the mold defining a cavity along the contact surface which conforms to a size of a nipple to be formed upon the breast and where the cavity further comprises the adhesive for securement to the nipple. A breast enlargement device comprises a cup larger than the target breast and further defines an inner surface which adheres to the breast when contacted.

The invention is an apparatus (10) for treating inverted nipples and / or the collection of NAF. The invention includes an assembly which creates an airtight seal upon attachment to at least an areola (16) of an inverted nipple (18) and by rotation of a part thereof draws a partial vacuum to apply an outward force to the nipple; and a syringe (26) including a curved longitudinal axis (28), the syringe being carried by the assembly and being in fluid communication with a chamber (24) of the assembly upon attachment of the assembly to at least an areola of an inverted nipple, the syringe including a plunger (30) which is sealed against an inner surface (34) of the syringe and is rotatable to move along the longitudinal axis relative to the chamber which moves the plunger within a syringe body to expel air from the syringe body away from the chamber upon rotation of the plunger in a first direction and to aspirate air from the chamber upon attachment of the apparatus to the breast surrounding the nipple upon rotation in a second direction opposite to the first direction to create a partial vacuum within the chamber to evert the nipple.

Bra pads and production method thereof

The invention discloses a pair of bra pads. Each bra pad comprises an isolation layer, an absorption layer and a permeable layer from bottom to top in sequence and also comprises an anti-leakage layer arranged on the upper surface on one end of the permeable layer, on the upper surfaces on both corresponding ends or on the peripheral upper surface, wherein the outer edge of the isolation layer, the outer edge of the permeable layer and the outer edge of the anti-leakage layer are bonded together by hot pressing to form a bonding edge; the binding edge has no absorption layer, and a storage space is formed on the upper surface of the anti-leakage layer and the upper surface of the permeable layer. Because the storage space is formed on the upper surface of the anti-leakage layer and the upper surface of the permeable layer, when overflown milk flows downwards under the action of gravity, the milk can directly enter the storage space along the permeable layer and is quickly absorbed by the absorption layer, and the phenomenon of milk leakage is avoided.
