Problems solved by technology

Inadequate rinsing creates alkaline residues and uneven removal of impurities on the fabric, which in turn leads to uneven dyeing in subsequent processes
[0005] Furthermore, chemical degumming creates environmental concerns on effluent disposal due to the chemicals employed and the materials extracted from the fibers

Embodiment 1

[0072] Example 1: Using H 2 o 2 Simultaneous biodegumming and bleaching in one bath

[0073] A. Biodegumming and Bleaching: A 45 cm x 21.5 cm fabric weighing approximately 25 grams was cut from an interlock knit fabric (Type 4600, Ramseur Co., NC). The fabric was loaded into a Labomat beaker (Mathis Labomat, Werner Mathis USA, Inc, NC), and then poured into 250 ml of 20 mM sodium bicarbonate-sodium carbonate buffer solution (pH 9.2) containing 3000 APSU / kg of fiber pectinate. Synthase, 0.5g / l wetting agent (Kierlon Jet B, BASF), 1.7g / l H 2 o 2 and 0.75 g / l stabilizer (Calgon, Dexter). The fabric was treated at 55°C for 15 minutes and then ramped to 70°C at 5°C / minute for 1 hour. The fabric was then washed thoroughly under tap water to remove residual chemicals and dried overnight at room temperature.

[0074] B. Analysis: The whiteness of the fabric is measured in Ganz units by means of a Macbeth color eye. Wet absorption is determined by means of the drop test, which m...

Embodiment 2

[0076] Example 2: Using H 2 o 2 / NaOH single-bath simultaneous biological degumming and bleaching

[0077] Use the same fabric and equipment as in Example 1 above. Experiments were carried out in essentially the same manner as in Example 1, except that 2 g / l NaOH was added to the bioretting / bleaching solution.

[0078] The results are shown in Table 1. The presence of alkali dramatically increases the whiteness of the fabric. However, due to the denaturation of the enzyme by alkali, the hygroscopicity is poor.

Embodiment 3

[0079] Example 3: Using H 2 o 2 / NaOH single bath sequential (sequential) biological degumming and bleaching

[0080] A. Biodegumming: A 45 cm x 21.5 cm fabric weighing approximately 25 grams was cut from a link knit fabric (type 4600, Ramseur Co., NC). The fabric was loaded into a Labomat beaker (MathisLabomat, Werner Mathis USA, Inc, NC), and then poured into 250ml of 20mM sodium phosphate buffer solution (pH 9.2) containing 3000APSU / kg of fiber pectate lyase and 0.5g / l Wetting agent (Kierlon Jet B, BASF). The fabric was treated at 55°C for 15 minutes.

[0081] B. Bleaching: Add H to the same beaker 2 o 2 , NaOH and sodium silicate. h 2 o 2 , NaOH and sodium silicate final concentrations are the same as in Example 1 above. The Labomat temperature was raised to 70°C at 5°C / min for 1 hour, after which the water was drained. The fabric was then washed thoroughly with tap water to remove residual alkali and dried at room temperature.

[0082] The results are shown in...

Abstract

The present invention provides methods for single-bath desizing, scouring and bleaching of cellulosic materials, which are carried out by contracting the cellulosic simultaneously or sequentially with an enzyme system and a peracid bleaching system under conditions that do not require emptying the bath or rinsing the cellulosic materials between desizing, scouring and bleaching steps.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to methods and compositions for treating cellulosic materials, and more particularly to methods and compositions for desizing, scouring and bleaching cellulosic materials. Background of the invention [0002] The processing of cellulosic, such as cotton, fibers into clothing manufacturing materials involves several steps: spinning the fibers into yarns; constructing woven or woven fabrics from the yarns; and subsequent preparation, dyeing, and finishing operations. The preparation process may involve desizing (for textiles), degumming and bleaching to produce a textile suitable for dyeing or finishing. [0003] A. Desizing: Textiles are the main form of textile fabric construction. The weaving process requires that the bent yarn be "sized" to protect it from fraying. Starch, polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethyl cellulose, waxes and acrylic binders are examples of typical sizing agents commonly used in the industry. In or...
