Carboxymethylation modification is performed with a sodium hydroxide-chloroacetic acid method, arboxymethylation substitution degree is used as an index, three factors including NaOH concentration, reaction time and reaction temperature are studied with single factor, and carboxymethylated passiflora edulis peel polysaccharide with different substitution degrees is obtained. The invention also relates to an application of the carboxymethylated passiflora edulis peel polysaccharide in pharmacy, in particular in preparation of antioxidant drugs, including DPPH free radical and hydroxyl free radical removing drugs, superoxide anion drugs and F3<3+> reduction capacity drugs. The artificially synthesized carboxymethylated passiflora edulis peel polysaccharide with different substitution degrees is applied to in vitro antioxidant activity tests, and areference basis is provided for application of the carboxymethylated passiflora edulis peel polysaccharide in medical field.
