The automatic generation method includes the steps of determining an x-z plane projection drawing according to design data of an arch dam, and generating a two-dimensional mesh model of the arch dam according to the x-z plane projection drawing; generating three-dimensional space surface meshes of an arch-axis central plane according to the two-dimensional mesh model; generating a three-dimensional space super-element model according to the three-dimensional space surface meshes; subdividing the three-dimensional space super-element model to generate a structural calculation super-element model of the arch dam; supplementing three-dimensional space meshes of an excavation area so as to generate the three-dimensional arch dam mesh model capable of simulating the whole process from excavation to operation. The built three-dimensional arch dam mesh model is regular in mesh shape and capable of simulating temperature stress calculation in the whole process involving excavation, placing and operation of the arch dam simultaneously.
