Embodiment Construction

[0039] figure 1 The induction heating device 1 and the aerosol-forming insert 2 are schematically shown in the installed state of the aerosol-forming insert 2 forming an induction heating system. The induction heating device 1 comprises a device housing 10 having at its distal end contacts 101, such as docking ports and pins, for connecting an internal power source 11 to an external power source (not shown), such as a charging device. An internal power supply 11 , for example a rechargeable battery 11 , is arranged inside the device housing in a distal region of the housing 10 .

[0040] The proximal end of the device housing has a socket 102 for inserting the aerosol-forming insert 2 into the cavity 13 . A cavity 13 is formed inside the device housing in the proximal region of the device housing. The cavity 13 is configured to removably receive the aerosol-forming insert 2 inside the cavity 13 . The helical induction coil 15 is arranged inside the device between the outer ...

Abstract

The present invention discloses an induction heating device for generating an aerosol comprising a device housing comprising a cavity having an inner surface for receiving at least a portion of an aerosol-forming insert comprising an aerosol-forming substrate and a susceptor. The device housing also includes an induction coil having a magnetic field axis, the induction coil being arranged so as to surround at least a portion of the cavity. The device still further includes a power source connected to the induction coil and configured to supply high frequency current to the induction coil. Here, the wire material forming the induction coil has a cross-section comprising a main part with a longitudinal extension in the direction of the magnetic field axis and a lateral extension perpendicular to the magnetic field axis, the longitudinal extension being longer than the lateral extension of the main part minister.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to inductively heatable smoking devices in which an aerosol can be generated by inductively heating an aerosol-forming substrate. Background technique [0002] In electrically heatable devices, the constraint that exists is the limited energy provided by the batteries provided in the device. The trend to miniaturize these devices places additional constraints on these power supplies. In order to optimize the utilization of energy, induction heating has been proposed. By induction heating, a better energy transfer to the part of the device to be heated and a better conversion of energy into heat can be achieved. However, miniaturized electric smoking devices still require frequent recharging, which is inconvenient for the smoker. [0003] Accordingly, there is a need for an improved induction heating device for generating aerosols. In particular, such devices are required in terms of energy efficiency. Contents of the...
