[0053] The following examples were carried out using the following materials from the following suppliers. 8-Chloro-3,6-dioxaoctan-1-ol, sodium azide, TEMPO, and potassium bromide were purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company (Milwaukee, Wis., U.S.A.). The solvent system used for HPLC was acetonitrile / water / trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) system. The HPLC column was a Vydac analytical column (C1 8, 300 A, 5μ, 4.6×250 mm) equipped with a Vydac guard cartridge.
