A data collection system collects vehicle status information and environmental information duringnormal driving of a vehicle; a vehicle following intention of a driver is collected through a human-vehicle interaction system; an overall vehicle control system judges whether or not the vehicle isin a safe state and whether or not the driver has the vehicle following intention according to vehicle status information and environmental information, if it is judged that the vehicle is in a unsafestate, the whole vehicle control system controls a safety early warning system to give an alarm; when the driver has the vehicle following intention, the overall vehicle control system sends a control instruction to an actuator system, the vehicle running speed, direction and driving modes are adjusted, vehicle following running is conducted on the condition that the vehicle distance is kept unchanged. Accordingly, vehicle following running in traffic jam road sections is achieved, all or part of operation of the driver is liberated, and the fatigue of the driver is relieved.
