Abstract

The invention provides a coupling inductance coil-based DC circuit breaker and a control method thereof. The DC circuit breaker is composed of a main switch thyristor, a coupling inductance coil, an inductance follow-current circuit, an energy storage capacitor, a charge and discharge unit of the energy storage capacitor, and a manual turn-off unit. The coupling inductance coil comprises a primary side coil and a secondary side coil which are coupled through a magnetic core. The anode of the main switch thyristor is connected with the positive electrode of a direct current system. The cathode of the main switch thyristor is connected with the dotted terminal of the primary side coil of the coupling inductance coil. According to the invention, the fault isolation is realized by using the induction current of the coupling inductance coil in the fault transient state to enable the current of the main switch thyristor to be in the zero-crossing state. Therefore, the DC circuit breaker is low in cost and low in on-state loss. The rapid and automatic protection of the direct-current short circuit and overload faults can be realized. Moreover, the impact of the fault current on the power supply side can be avoided.
