Abstract

A method and apparatus for realizing safe upgrade of a system are disclosed to solve the problem of high unavailability rate of a device due to the upgrade of the system. The method includes: detecting the configuration state parameter of each of boot partitions recorded in a parameter partition and sifting a single boot partition whose configuration state parameter represents a successful state when the device is started; setting the configuration state parameter of the above sifted boot partition to represent a failure state in the parameter partition, and executing codes for booting up the system stored in the boot partition; and setting the configuration state parameter value of the above sifted boot partition to represent the successful state in the parameter partition when the execution is determined to be successful.
