The dehydrate potassium metagermanate tetraborate is prepared by a water (agent) hot method. The dehydrate potassium metagermanate tetraborate has frroelectric property and second-order non-linear optical properties, and power SHG coefficient of the dehydrate potassium metagermanate tetraborate is two times of KDP, which corresponds to LBO. The dehydrate potassium metagermanate tetraborate can be used for manufacturing secondary harmonic generators, upper-lower frequency converters, optical parametric oscillators, coders for storing and restoring information, transmitting light information, displaying images and performing holography, and frroelectric light valve arrays for storing the holography.
