153 results about "Note-taking" patented technology

Note-taking (sometimes written as notetaking or note taking) is the practice of recording information captured from another source. By taking notes, the writer records the essence of the information, freeing their mind from having to recall everything. Notes are commonly drawn from a transient source, such as an oral discussion at a meeting, or a lecture (notes of a meeting are usually called minutes), in which case the notes may be the only record of the event.

Networked presentation system

A networked presentation system manages transmission of presentation units to the audience, and ensures that the presentation units are displayed to, or accessible by, the audience in the same sequence as the presenter intends. The networked presentation system includes a presenter system, a presentation server and at least one audience system that connect to each other using a data transmission network. The networked presentation system controls to deliver the active presentation unit to the audience systems such that whenever the presenter renders one presentation unit active, the networked presentation system makes the active presentation unit available to the audience system. The networked presentation system allows users of the audience system to configure the way the presentation units are displayed on the audience system, and to attach notes to the presentation units. In addition, the networked presentation system may obtain feedback from the audience with respect to a specific presentation unit and calculate various indices representing the audience's responses based on the feedback. The networked presentation system may allow the presenter to access notes taken by the audience during the presentation in connection with a specific presentation unit. The networked presentation system may allow users to share notes with other people.

Semantic note taking system

A semantic note taking system and method for collecting information, enriching the information, and binding the information to services is provided. User-created notes are enriched with labels, context traits, and relevant data to minimize friction in the note-taking process. In other words, the present invention is directed to collecting unscripted data, adding more meaning and use out of the data, and binding the data to services. Mutable and late-binding to services is also provided to allow private thoughts to be published to a myriad of different applications and services in a manner compatible with how thoughts are processed in the brain. User interfaces and semantic skins are also provided to derive meaning out of notes without requiring a great deal of user input. Linking physical objects to notes are also provided, such as through QR codes.

Apparatus and method for mobile graphical cheminformatic

The present invention is a pocket-sized, portable computing apparatus that performs frequently used laboratory calculations, provides a look-up function for commonly used data and procedures, and provides note-taking and data capture for record-keeping. The present invention displays data in a form that a chemist finds most convenient and manipulates this data with functions a chemist typically utilizes in his work. In addition, the present invention provides a user interface that is compatible with traditional methods for formula manipulations and chemistry workflows and that increases the efficiency of the user in performing laboratory tasks.

Method and System for Live Collaborative Tagging of Audio Conferences

Methods are disclosed in which participants in a communication session contribute tags—during the course of the communication session—such that the tags are visible to at least some of the participants as the communication session progresses. This creates a “live” collaborative tagging environment.
Tags are contributed by some or all the participants on the communication session. The tags are displayed as they are generated. Moreover, one who declines to speak on the communication session can still actively tag. In this way, a tagger can participate and contribute in a collaborative live manner while the communication session is in progress. This approach departs from traditional “after the fact” or “note-taking” techniques in the prior art.
The tags, according to some illustrative embodiments of the present invention, can be associated in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: a tag that is associated with an instance in time of the recording of the communication session; a tag that is associated with the recording as a whole; a tag that is associated with a period of time of the recording of the communication session, wherein the period of time is of a predetermined duration; a tag that is associated with a period of time of the recording of the communication session, wherein the period of time is under the control of the person contributing the tag. The tags are searchable and browsable and can be classified.
