Abstract

A milking device (100) comprises a milking machine (116) for milking an animal (110), where the milking device (100) comprises a control unit (120). The control unit (120) is configured to: obtain an identity of the animal (110) in relation to milking of the animal (110); obtaining a reference time point (300) of a lactation cycle of the identified animal (110); determining to acquire at least one milk sample of the animal (110) when a predetermined period of time has elapsed from the reference time point (300); obtaining a haptoglobin level from the milk sample (210); comparing the obtained haptoglobin level (210) with a haptoglobin reference limit (215); and indicating a health condition of the animal (110) based on the made comparison.
