Abstract

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a wireless device (10) for managing beamforming communications in a wireless communication network (1), wherein the wireless device (10) is configured to operate in the wireless device ( 10) processing individual directional device beams. The wireless device (10) forms the individual directional network beams for the wireless device (10) by selecting one or more first network beams from a plurality of individual directional network beams of the wireless communication network (1). The active set of a first device beam in the directed device beams. The one or more first network beams are selected based on received signal strength or quality, and the active set is to be used for transmission or reception of data. The wireless device selects a first network beam in the active set as a preferred network beam for transmission or reception of data. Said wireless device further forms said one or more individual directional network beams for said wireless device by selecting one or more second network beams from said plurality of individual directional network beams of said wireless communication network (1). A monitoring set of a second device beam in the directional device beam. The one or more second network beams are selected based on received signal strength or quality, but the one or more second network beams are not currently being used for transmission or reception of data. The wireless device sends to a network node (12) a first indication and a second indication, the first indication indicating the preferred network beam and the formed said received signal strength or quality of said one or more first network beams in the active set, said second indication indicating said one or more second network beams of the formed monitoring set and The received signal strength or quality of the one or more second network beams in the formed monitoring set of the second device beams of the wireless device.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments herein relate generally to wireless communication networks, and in particular to network nodes, wireless devices and methods of beamforming communication management. Background technique [0002] The Background section of this document is provided to place the embodiments herein into a technical and operational context, to assist those skilled in the art in understanding their scope and utility. The approaches described in the Background section can be pursued, but are not necessarily approaches that have been previously conceived or pursued. Unless so expressly identified, the descriptions herein are not admitted to be prior art merely by inclusion in the Background section. [0003] Many implementations of fifth-generation (5G) base stations are expected to utilize so-called analog beamforming. This is due to the higher complexity (mainly from a hardware point of view) of implementing so-called digital beamforming. Digital beamforming ...
