Problems solved by technology

This type of capillary-based electrospray ionization mass spectrometry interface has the advantages of simple fabrication, convenience, and low cost, but there are also some obvious limitations
For example, there is a certain space between the outlet of the analytical capillary and the outlet of the sheath flow sleeve in this type of interface. The dead volume formed in this space will cause the sample to diffuse here after separation, resulting in a decrease in separation efficiency.
Secondly, the solution in the sheath flow cannula is focused in the tip of the sheath flow cannula, which will easily cause the nozzle to be blocked, so that the electrospray stops and the experiment is interrupted.
In addition, the outer diameter of the analysis capillary is larger than the inner diameter of the sheath flow sleeve, which may easily cause collision between the analysis capillary and the sheath flow sleeve during the installation and use of the interface, thereby damaging the analysis capillary or the sheath flow sleeve and reducing the service life of the interface
Although it has been reported to use a sheath flow sleeve with a larger inner diameter to solve the problems of nozzle clogging and service life, the dead volume of the interface is still large in this method, which reduces the separation efficiency and detection sensitivity of the sample.

Example device see figure 1 , 3 ,9, Figure 11 A photograph of the Taylor cone at the exit tip when electrospray occurs at the interface. The analytical capillary 1 used in the interface device is a fused silica capillary with an inner diameter of 20 microns, an outer diameter of 90 microns, and a length of 15 cm. The outlet end 2 of the analytical capillary is etched with a hydrogen fluoride solution. After processing, the outer diameter of the outlet end 2 is 35 microns, and the length of the outlet end 2 is 350 microns. The sheath flow capillary 3 used is a fused silica capillary with an inner diameter of 200 microns, an outer diameter of 365 microns, and a length of 4 cm. The sheath flow capillary 3 is processed by heating and drawing, so that the outlet end 4 presents a tapered struc...
