Abstract

The method comprises the steps that whether the source utilization rates corresponding to the metadata servers are larger than a first threshold or not is judged by detecting the source utilization rate of each metadata server in a metadata server cluster; if yes, a migration request is sent to a metadata management module, the metadata in the metadata servers corresponding to the source utilization rates larger than the first threshold is migrated into a second metadata server cluster, wherein the first threshold is the maximum allowable value of the source utilization rates, and the second metadata server cluster is a cluster of the metadata servers, corresponding to the source utilization rates smaller than the first threshold, in the metadata server cluster. Therefore, the dynamic uniform distribution of the metadata in the metadata servers is achieved, the dynamic load balancing of the metadata servers is achieved, and the performance of the metadata servers is improved.
