Abstract

The invention discloses novel medicinal application of icariin, and particularly relates to application of icariin in preparation of medicine for treating dermatitis. TNF-alpha / IFN-gamma-irritated skin keratinocytes (HaCaT cells) are adopted as an in-vitro dermatitis model and subjected to icariin intervention. A result shows that icariin can effectively inhibit rising of the level of HaCaT cell inflammatory factors (IL-6, IL-1beta and IL-8) which are induced by TNF-alpha / IFN-gamma; the skin inflammatory resisting effect of icarriin is related to inhibition on expression of phosphorylation p38 and phosphorylation ERK; the skin inflammatory resisting effect of icarriin is related to improvement of cortisol secretion of the skin keratinocytes. Icariin can be used for preparing the medicine for treating the dermatitis.
