The water glass iron oxide red priming paint is prepared by compatibility of the following material components according to the weight: 80-100 of water glass, 1.5-3 of a wetting agent, 2-5 of zinc oxide, 2-5 of zinc phosphate, 3-5 of precipitated barium sulfate, 10-15 of an iron oxide red pigment, 2-5 of a talc powder, and 1-3 of a dispersible latex powder. The preparation method comprises the steps: mixing water glass and the wetting agent according to the above-mentioned proportion, and then adding and mixing the other materials according to the weight; after stirring the above raw materials evenly, putting into a ball mill, firstly adding water and 1 part of a waterproof glue into a pot, slowly adding the ground slurry into the pot, successively adding 2 parts of a flake zinc powder, 0.2 part of a defoaming agent and 2 parts of a lustre-enhancing agent (liquid wax); and finally, adding 5 parts of water in the ball mill to obtain the finished product. The water glass iron oxide red priming paint has the advantages of corrosion prevention, rust protection, high-temperature resistance, strong adhesion force, acid resistance and water resistance, has the hardness which can reach 5 H, and has quite good corrosion prevention effect on steel in water.
