The preparation method comprises the following steps: taking paper mulberry fruit, adding an organic solvent (ethanol) 5 to 30 times the weight of the paper mulberry fruit, carrying out reflux extraction at a temperature of 50 to 100 DEG C for 1 to 10 h and standing, filtering and concentrating an obtained liquid extract so as to obtain a crude paper mulberry fruit concrete; and dispersing the concrete with water, carrying out separation and purification with a macroporous adsorption resin column and subjecting obtained eluates to condensation and drying so as to obtain the paper mulberry fruit extracts from different parts. The extracts are used for inhibiting activity of tyrosinase and synthesis of melanin and preparation of externally applied compositions for skin whitening, and the usage amount of the extracts is 0.01 to 15% by mass.
