In the dope flowing down step, the dope is made to flow down the endless belt. In the casting process, a cast film is formed from the dope. In the film heating step, the surface of the film is smoothed by heating the cast film. In the surface layer forming step, a surface layer is formed on the film surface. In the film drying step, the cast film is dried. In the film cooling step, the cast film is cooled to a state where it can be transported independently. In the peeling step, the cast film is peeled from the endless belt. In the support body heating step, the endless belt that has passed through the peeling step is heated.
