Abstract

The invention discloses a method and equipment for finding reasons of authentication failure, belonging to the communication field. The method comprises the following step that: a terminal sends an expandable authentication protocol request message to a server and the expandable authentication protocol request message carries a content to be verified; the content to be verified is verified by the server and a failure reply message is fed back when the content does not pass the verification; the terminal records different stages and position information of the current authentication flow in the authentication process; the terminal receives the failure reply message which is fed back from the server, and judges the failure reasons according to the recorded different stages and position information of the current authentication flow to finish the current authentication. Or, the server adds error codes to the failure reply message and sends the failure replay message carrying the error codes to the terminal; and then the terminal finds out the failure reasons according to the error codes. Through the scheme, the terminal can know the reasons of network access authentication failure in time, so as to adjust network access operation to improve network access efficiency and reduce network access time.
