[0314] (Example 3: Electrode material)

[0315] In this example, it was shown that various conditions were tested and the results revealed the following features. Basic experimental techniques were performed according to Example 1.

[0316] In this example, confirm that the material of the electrodes is not relevant (only conductivity is required). That is, confirmed by tungsten, tungsten carbide and gold. image 3 is an instance of tungsten, Figure 4 is an example of tungsten carbide, gold has also been confirmed to have a similar effect.

Abstract

It is an object to provide a technique capable of making an object move and transporting at will without generation of a current, and extracting mechanical work. As a result of diligent effort, the present inventors have found that by arranging two electrodes for generating an electric field for a dielectric body of a micrometer-size or the like in an insulating fluid such as oil, such that the central axes of the two electrodes are not aligned, and applying an electric field (for example, constant electric field), the dielectric body can be transported three-dimensionally at will, and as a result, mechanical work can be extracted, and have solved the above object.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the transport of micron-sized objects and the harvesting of mechanical work through a constant electric field. Background technique [0002] Typically, alternating electric fields are used for oscillatory and periodic motion. In this case, motion is caused by the generation of electric current. [0003] In the micron scale, it is considered difficult to extract work from mechanical motion due to the low Reynolds number representing the magnitude ratio between the inertial and viscous forces of the flow. [0004] Non-Patent Document 1 describes the effect of a constant electric field on water droplets having a diameter of several tens of micrometers in oil. [0005] The micron-scale range, which is the subject of the present invention, is generally also considered to be the low Reynolds number range. In the category of this scale, it is well known that only doing periodic motion on a straight line without direction ca...
