The vinyl polymer / inorganic nanoparticle composite tanning agent is prepared from dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride, vinyl monomer and inorganic nanoparticles serving as raw materials by the in-situ cyclopolymerization method. The nanoparticle composite tanning agent has certain tanning effect and can increase absorption ratio of chrome-tanning liquid waste and enhance the dyeing and fat-liquoring effect when combined with 2 percent chrome powder to taw pickled raw sheep skin; the thickness of the finished leather is obviously increased after the tanning; the physical and mechanical performance is superior, and the finished leather is endowed with certain antibacterial and anti-ultraviolet performance; and thus the nano composite tanning agent is environment-friendly.
