By comparing the levels of the output efficacy eta [PSM] and the output efficacy eta [PWM] of the power inverter under the PSM or the PWM modulation mode, which are calculated on line by DSP (or CPU), modulation mode switching points of the power inverter under different loads are obtained: when the eta [PSM] is higher than or equal to the eta [PWM], the PSM modulation mode is used for driving a main power tube of the power inverter to work; when the eta [PSM] is lower than the eta [PWM], the PWM modulation mode is used for driving the main power tube of the power inverter to work; and when the result of comparison of the eta [PSM] with the eta [PWM] is changed, the modulation modes of the power inverter are switched between the PSM modulation mode and the PWM modulation mode; and therefore, the highest output efficacy in the range of entire journey load of the power inverter is realized, and the low power consumption running of the power inverter is ensured.
