Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 A control system 100 for a motor vehicle, especially an automobile, is shown. This could be a car with a combustion engine, an electric motor suitable to drive the car, or both. The control system 100 includes a driver control unit 200 which is connected to a vehicle control unit through a vehicle control network 120 and receives instructions from the vehicle control unit. The vehicle control network 120 preferably comprises a bus system which is arranged for exchanging data according to the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) protocol. The driver control unit 200 is also in communication with a vehicle power supply network 130 which preferably includes a battery.

[0026] The driver control unit 200 includes a communication module 206 , a processing module 202 including a storage module 204 , a power supply module 208 and a current sensing module 250 . Alternatively or additionally, the storage module 204 is located outside the processing module 202 . The dri...

Abstract

A control unit is presented for controlling a driving unit arranged for adjustment of one or more first air guiding flaps of a motorized vehicle between a first outer position and a second outer position. The control unit comprises a communication module for communicating with a vehicle control network for receiving first adjustment instructions for adjusting the first flap, a power supply modulecomprising an input power terminal for receiving power from a vehicle power network and a first output power terminal for supplying a first current to the driving unit. The control unit further comprises a current sensor module for sensing variations in the first supply current and a control module arranged to control the first supply current in accordance with the adjustment instructions and thesensed variations. By separating the control module from the driving unit, functionality of the control module may be shared over multiple driving units.

Description

technical field [0001] Various aspects and embodiments of the invention relate to the field of control modules for controlling actuators for adjusting the position of air guiding vanes in a motor vehicle. Background technique [0002] Motor vehicles such as cars and trucks contain a large number of components whose position can be adjusted by electrically driven actuators. The components may be shutters of an active grille shutter system, an AGS, an air dam, and / or one or more spoilers. The actuator is preferably driven via an onboard network system. An example of such a system is the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) protocol. One problem with the LIN protocol, as well as other protocols of vehicle networking bus systems, is that only a limited number of actuators can be coupled to and addressed by the central vehicle control unit. Contents of the invention [0003] It would be preferable to provide a controller that addresses at least one of the above-mentioned disadva...
