The water-retaining fertilizer takes the fermented mushroom residues, the potassium fulvate, the urea and the potassium nitrate as mainraw materials, are fermented through the microbial agent, and are compatible with the alginic acid and pectin to be decomposed into a small molecular fertilizer containing organic matters, and the small molecular fertilizer can be combined with soil colloid, so the soil structure is improved, and the water retention capacity of the soil is increased; the alginic acid can further adjust the pH value of the soil.
