Embodiment 1

[0110] Example 1. Cetirizine Gelatin Stickies

[0111] Ingredients: Sucrose, Glucose Syrup, Cetirizine Hydrochloride 1.3g, Water, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Gelatin, Mannitol, Taurine

[0112] Transfer gelatin, mannitol, cetirizine, and taurine together. The dry ingredient mixture was added to water to provide a rubbery mass. Heat the rubbery mass at 160°F until free of foam and clear yellow. Mix water with potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, dextrose, and sucrose. The solution was heated to 248°F. The solution is then cooled to 200°F and the gelatin solution is added. Stir the mixture until smooth. The solution was then added to the silicone mold and the mold was placed in the refrigerator for 90 minutes. The adhesive sheets were removed from the molds to produce a product containing approximately 11 mg of cetirizine per tablet.

Abstract

The disclosure provides a semi-solid composition, comprising a gelling component in a sufficient amount to provide a cohesive gelled product, an anti-histamine composition, comprising an antihistamine, and a complexing agent, wherein the complexing agent is capable of interacting with the antihistamine and forming an antihistamine complex. In one embodiment, the antihistamine comprises diphenhydramine, cetirizine, levocetirizine, loratadine, desloratadine, fexofenadine, azelastine, bilastine, rupatadine, or a derivative, salt or a combination thereof.
