Problems solved by technology

[0009] (2) For continuous back-to-back filling of vehicles, the cooling capacity of the refrigeration system is not strong enough, such as lower than the required cooling capacity for continuous back-to-back filling of vehicles, so the refrigeration system cannot continuously fill vehicles
[0010] (3) Refrigeration requires electricity usage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to maintain the heat accumulator below -40°C, so cooling costs are high
[0011] (4) The heat storage heat exchanger HX surface area is fixed, therefore, the heat accumulator is fixed, and the cooling capacity is relatively small compared to the load, so the cooling needs to be adjusted based on environmental conditions and other specific changes such as pipe length setpoints, which lead to long commissioning times, high labor costs, and individual HRS software / hardware configuration
[0012] (5) The heat accumulator is tuned to a small range of vehicle tank sizes and is inflexible for smaller or larger tank ranges
[0013] (6) The temperature control unit has a large footprint and must be installed in the pit adjacent to the distributor. Since the TCU footprint limits the number and proximity of distributors, the land used by hydrogen refueling stations is usually very precious
[0014] In summary, the state-of-the-art temperature control unit creates a vehicle-specific dispenser that limits the commercialization and scale-up of hydrogen fuel

Embodiment 1

[0085] Hydrogen at 450 bar and 20K (-253°C) was used to fill a substantially empty vehicle tank at 95 bar. In this case, 30% of the fuel stream is split as a bypass stream and enters the heat exchanger, after which the bypass stream has a temperature of -50°C. The remainder of the hydrogen fuel flow enters the vaporizer. The bypass flow through the heat exchanger is then mixed with the fuel flow through the carburetor to form a mixed fuel flow, where the temperature of the mixed fuel flow is -1°C, which is a temperature for flow meters, controllers and other components in the distributor. Comfortable to avoid thermal shock and thermal stress due to temperature fluctuations.

Embodiment 2

[0087] Hydrogen at 450bar and 20K (-253°C) is used to fill an essentially empty vehicle tank at 195bar, where 29% of the fuel flow is diverted as a bypass stream and enters a heat exchanger where, after passing through the heat exchanger, the bypass The temperature of the road flow is -50°C. The remainder of the hydrogen fuel flow enters the vaporizer. The bypass flow through the heat exchanger is then mixed with the remainder of the fuel flow through the carburetor to form a mixed fuel flow, where the temperature of the mixed fuel flow is 0°C, which is critical for flow meters, controllers and other components in the distributor is comfortable.

Embodiment 3

[0089]Hydrogen at 450bar and 20K (-253°C) is used to fill an essentially empty vehicle tank at 295bar, where 27% of the fuel flow is split as a bypass stream and enters a heat exchanger where, after passing through the heat exchanger, the bypass The temperature of the road flow is -50°C. The remainder of the hydrogen fuel flow enters the vaporizer. The bypass flow passing through the heat exchanger is then mixed with the remainder of the hydrogen fuel flow flowing through the vaporizer to form a mixed fuel flow, and the temperature of the mixed fuel flow is 1°C, which is a temperature for flow meters, controllers and other components in the distributor. Components are comfortable.

Abstract

The present application relates to a fluid bypass method and system for controlling the temperature of non-petroleum fuels. The fluid bypass method includes: providing fuel to the vehicle at a pressure sufficient to achieve a desired flow rate, the fuel being in a liquid or substantially supercritical thermodynamic state requiring further heating in a vaporizer; The bypass stream that is not vaporized is split to the heat exchanger as cold fluid on the cold side of the heat exchanger. The method also includes: providing a remaining portion of the fuel flow to the vaporizer; mixing the remaining portion flow from the vaporizer with the cold fluid flowing from the cold side of the heat exchanger to forming a mixed fuel flow; and providing the mixed fuel flow to the heat exchanger as warm fluid on a warm side of the heat exchanger.
