The method is applied to the electronic device and comprises the following steps: acquiring aresidual running memory capacity value of the electronic device; if the remaining running memory capacity value meets a preset first condition, obtaining a memory compression rate and the number of file pages in the memory, and the memory compression rate being the ratio of the compressed data volume to the preset data volume; if the memory compression ratio is smaller than a preset ratio, recovering the memory in a memory compression mode, and/or, if the number of the file pages is larger than a preset numerical value, recovering the memory in a file page recovery mode; creating a memory pool for the UI thread according to the recycled running memory capacity; and when the allocable running memory capacity meets a preset second condition, providing a running memory for the UI thread by utilizing the memory pool. According to the invention, the system fluency can be improved, and jamming is reduced.
