[0112] Examples 1-14. Bisphenol A epoxy resin ( GY6010 epoxy resin) and containing polyetheramine ( D-230 amine), glycerin, and a curing agent for a tertiary amine (dimethylaminocyclohexane (DMCHA)) were mixed to form a curable composition, as shown in Table 1 below. Each curable composition was cured at 80°C for 3 hours, and then at 125°C for 2 hours. The glass transition temperature of the resulting cured article was then measured by DSC, with Example 1 as reference. The following results show that a tertiary amine catalyst is required in order to react glycerol into the polymer backbone. In fact, phase separation was observed when an insufficient amount of DMCHA was used.
