Abstract

The invention discloses a broadband high-efficiency transmission type polarization converter, which comprises a dielectric substrate and a metal pattern which is etched on and between the surfaces ofthe dielectric substrate. The metal pattern is formed by periodically arranging a plurality of polarization conversion unit structures. Polarization decomposition is realized on incident polarized electromagnetic waves by utilizing the metamaterial polarization conversion lens. When being incident at an appropriate polarization angle, linearly polarized waves, after passing through the polarization converter, are divided into two linearly polarized wave components with equal amplitude and a phase difference of 90 degrees or 180 degrees. When the phase difference is 90 degrees, the two mutuallyperpendicular linearly polarized waves are incident at a proper polarization angle and can be converted into left-handed circularly polarized waves and right-handed circularly polarized waves respectively after passing through lens. When the phase difference is 180 degrees, linear polarization 90-degree or other arbitrary angle rotation of can be realized. The broadband high-efficiency transmission type polarization converter can be designed in any frequency band of microwaves and millimeter waves. The method is simple and practical, the design, machining and assembling are facilitated, the size is thin, the weight is light, and the cost is low.
